Our Bodyminds – Big Tree Gathering

  • The Arboretum Montlake Tot Lot (map)

Join us for a light community potluck, conversation, and reflection. If you’d like, bring snack food to share. Drawing on Brilliant Imperfection by Eli Clare (no reading required), we’ll be reflecting on the beliefs we carry about our bodyminds.

We’ll be gathering in our regular grove of large cedar and sequoia trees at the Arboretum (Searchable as Montlake Tot Lot, we meet about 40ft to the right/south of the playground). We bring some spare camping chairs and ground cloths, and folks can also bring their own seats if convenient to ensure we have enough seating.

In 2024, we are gathering around the theme of imperfection. Things fail to live up to how we and others would like them to be. We experience illness, disability, and death – as individuals, families, societies, and ecosystems. What is (im)perfect, and who decides? How do we respond to “imperfection” in ourselves and in the world around us? How do we find wisdom (or beauty, joy, or love) in “imperfection”? Join us as we share, read, move, create, rest, and play with imperfection!

COVID Safety Plan: We are hoping to gather outdoors, with an indoor back-up depending on the weather. Masks optional. Please stay home if you are having symptoms of anything contagious. If you need different guidelines, please email gatheringround.seattle@gmail.com so we can talk about an inclusive plan.
