Our Brilliant Imperfection gatherings are drop-in friendly and reading-optional Zoom gatherings typically on the first Tuesday of the month.

Last year at our gatherings, our community resonated with writings from Brilliant Imperfection by Eli Clare. Some community members feel called to hold space together for a deeper dive into the book and what it evokes in our own hearts and lives. Eli is a formative writer and activist in the disability justice movement. Eli's writings are hopeful and compassionate, exploring the intersections of disability, gender, queerness, race, ecology, and much more, weaving together the many connected strands of our world.

This is a reading-optional book club. If reading is not your thing, you are very welcome. This is also a particularly accessible book to only read parts of. While the short chapters weave together into a cohesive mosaic, each chapter can also be read on its own. Here are some places you can get the book, which is available in hard copy, ebook, and audiobook formats. If you can't get it in time let me know and I can email you a PDF of the chapter.

At the first meeting we’ll figure out how quickly or slowly folks want to move through the book. There are ten chapters and each chapter is 15-20 pages. For this first meeting, we’ll explore chapter 1.

Email gatheringround.seattle@gmail.com for any questions or access needs and to get the Zoom link.

Accessibility: We are gathering on Zoom with automated captions. We read aloud comments typed in chat. Cameras are optional; most of us participate with cameras on to help build community. Please email gatheringround.seattle@gmail.com with any access needs.
