Learn about the moving practices of the Mexican fiesta, the Day of the Dead, from Rene De Los Santos. He shares this powerful tradition of how to honor those who have passed on but are still important in your life. Day of the Dead is November 2, so you will be prepared to celebrate!
Please bring with you:
- Photographs or favorite foods of your beloved family who have passed on, to place on the altar
- Wear bright clothing: it’s a party!
-Masks are encouraged & proof of vaccination or recent negative test result is required by the venue
Rene will tell us about the fiesta, show how to set up an Muertos Altar, and invite us to reflect & share, as you feel comfortable. This event is appropriate for folks age 12 and up. Guests will go home with a hand-crafted marigold, the flower of the fiesta!
This event will be offered both IN PERSON on Sunday 10/16 and and ONLINE on Sunday 10/23. They require different RSVP’s, so please visit the 10/23 event if you would like to attend online.
If attending IN PERSON, masks are encouraged. Seating will be set up to allow distance between households. It will take place on the 2nd floor of the University Heights Center, where there is abundant free parking. U Heights also offers a snack bar with beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. Details sent as you RSVP.
