Join a playful outdoor event celebrating the longest day of the year with an ancient practice to reflect and center. It’s our sixth annual Summer Solstice Labyrinth Walk on the beach! This family friendly event features multiple labyrinths to walk, a station for crafting your own finger labyrinth to take home, and a solstice bonfire. The event will be open-house style: drop in when it works for you.
Schedule: 6:30 pm potluck/picnic, 7:15pm opening circle, followed by open crafting and labyrinth walking. 8:30-9:10 opportunity to gather around the bonfire and share marshmallows, reflections, and songs. Sunset 9:10pm.
Labyrinths are a simple reflection form that allows the walker to journey inward to their truth, then outward into the world. They are a powerful tool to move through challenges and find intention, clarity, and joy. One traditional use of the labyrinth is as a tool of protection from difficult energies. In a challenging world, let's connect with ourselves, with community, and with the natural world, and engage in creativity, joy, and contemplation.
We are grateful for the labyrinth support of the Western Washington Labyrinth Network.
Potluck: Paper plates and utensils are provided. We have minimal facilities so please bring picnic-friendly foods. Feel free to bring your own picnic and not join the potluck if that works better for you.
Contributions are warmly welcomed to meet our program expenses, which are about $25/person. Everyone is welcome to join in at whatever level is right for you: we all make this happen together!
Location:
We are meeting at the lower picnic shelter. Once you enter the park, go down the hill to the lowest parking lot. Follow the paved path from the parking lot down to the beach.
Contact GatherinGround.Seattle@gmail.com if you would like to find a carpool, or if you would like a pick up from or drop off to the bus stop.
Accessibility:
The shelter area is paved and has tables and benches. Labyrinths will be set up on sand and grass around the shelter. The bonfire will be next to the picnic shelter in a paved area with benches. There is water at the shelter. There is a public restroom 100ft from the shelter.
Bus stops for the 348 and 302 are a 0.6 mile walk from our meeting location, half of which is down/uphill.
Our meeting spot is 500 ft (0.1 miles) from the parking lot. Part of the path is sloped. The path is paved with no steps.
Masks are optional.
